Good for two, sometimes three
Despite what the product description and previous review says, this thing is not about 15 inches. I put a tape measure to it, and it has a diameter of 11.75 inches. It's intended as one component of Weber's gourmet bbq system, fitting into a hole of a special grate for their 22.5 inch kettle grills, but I have it for my gas grill just sitting on top of the grates. It's large enough for two decent steaks or a few burgers, but I was hoping for a little more cooking surface. Otherwise, it's solid and a good shortcut to classic sear marks, especially when one person likes their steak more done than the other. This allows me to heat this thing up on one section of the grill, put both our steaks on to sear, and then move mine to a cooler section of the grill to avoid overcooking while the other stays in higher heat (I do turn my grill down after the full pre-heat, but leave the back higher than the front). May buy another so I can do this with guests. Plenty of room left on the grill.
Great Cast Iron Grill Grate
I have a 22 inch weber kettle grill. I have been searching for a grill grate replacement, preferably cast iron. This was the closest I could find. Ideally I would like 22 inches of cast iron. This grate is probaly about 10-12 inches and sits in the middle of a stainless steel grate with a hole in the center for this cast iron piece to sit. It is good for about 2-3 steaks. It suits my needs and really gives a great sear.
Awesome Grill Grate
Cooked some strip steaks using this grate and they were seared with great markings. Steaks were seared on the outside and rare to med-rare on the inside. Just like we like them. I would recommend this grate to anyone who enjoys a good steak.
