Weber 1351001 One-Touch Gold Kettle Grill, 22-Inch, Black

Thermometer Installation
I've always liked Weber Grills. I've had one for years and typically grilled on it multiple times each week.

Just purchased a replacement grill and received it within a few days from Amazon. Putting it together was very easy. Only one major complaint. Installing the lid mounted thermometer was a disaster. The wing nut provided, by Weber, was not the correct size or the threads were different. Either way, only after a few turns, the nut was completely stuck. Attempting to tighten or loosen it only made things worse. I don't believe that lid mounted thermometer is even that accurate to begin with. Weber should either ship the thermometer pre-installed or leave it out completely.
Weber remains the "first class" choice
I don't know why anyone cooks with gas. The excuse is always "charcoal takes so long" or "charcoal is so messy". Ridiculous! That tells me you haven't done enough homework to know what you're doing. The Weber One-Touch Gold kettle in combo with a Weber Charcoal Chimney (NOT an off brand), will have the most novice of back yard cooks hooked for life. The problem, I'm convinced, is that too many people start with inferior brand charcoal grills or have never been exposed to the simplicity of a Weber charcoal chimney starter- which ELIMINATES the expense and smell of lighter fluid. With this grill, and a starter, your charcoal will be ready to cook with in just over 10 mins and started with a few mere sheets of newspaper. The stainless ash catcher allows for one-sweep easy disposal of used charcoal.

A few years ago I purchased an expensive gas grill to compliment our cookouts for larger parties. It was a very nice gas grill-- but it didn't hold a candle to...
Damaged good...Twice!!
Don't get me wrong here. The grill itself is exceptional and sturdy. The packaging is terrible!! First grill arrived with a badly bent kettle handle and chipped paint. We sent it back. Next grill arrived with chipped paint. Rather than send that one back we kept it. I figured, it may not get any better than this. So I kept the second damaged grill and wrote a scathing review about their packaging (Weber), or should I say lack of packaging. The grill was put together with a little bit of struggling, but everything works well. I love the ash catcher. Should have had this on the Weber we just got rid of. And I must add, we had the identical grill, minus the ash catcher for 20 years. We got rid of the black grill and got the beautiful blue grill. Weber makes strong and durable grills. I love cooking with charcoal too. I recommend the grill 5 stars. The 3 stars is for the horrible packaging!! Sorry Weber, but get your act together with the packaging soon...
