Good, Not Great
We ordered these along with our new Weber to move on/off the roasting rack and vegetable cooker. They fit both my husband and myself pretty well, though if you have very large hands it could be a problem, and getting your fingers into each can be slightly awkward since the material is so stiff. But the biggest issue is that they are not very heatproof. You can lift off those things directly off a hot grill, but you will feel a LOT of heat in doing so. Maybe not enough to burn yourself, but if you hold something for more than a few seconds it will sting.
Found What I Was Looking For
My wife and I are very pleased with these gloves. I looked pretty thoroughly for a while for oven mitts that fit these preferences:
1) Thumb NOT on same plane as the fingers so as not to obstruct motion.
2) Not silicone (I'm not impressed with the one we have - it transfers heat too easily).
3) Well insulated.
4) Something that covers past the wrist to protect the lower arm while reaching into the oven.
At first I didn't know what to think of getting gloves - I had mitts in mind. But, while I don't think that being gloves contributes much beyond what mitts would offer, I'm pleased to say that these gloves satisfy my desires well.
I noticed that some reviewers make mention of these transferring heat to quickly such that it caused them discomfort. We haven't experienced this to be a significant problem. I just transferred one of the wracks in the oven after the oven was heated to 375. I had to jiggle it out from the top position and...
If you burn yourself with these you have problems
These gloves are so very heavy duty will last a life time. We were expecting these gloves to be slightly smaller. They are bigger then oven mitts. They will definetly do the job if you are welding or grilling! They are a little bulky.
