Finally, a grill that does it all the right way
Although I have been a staunch Weber supporter for many years, I made a mistake and walked away from what I know and loved in search for "bigger and better". What a mistake that was. Although it looked good out of the box, it didn't last long and after two years never did figure out how to really cook with it. So I came back to my Summit series 470. I does everything that you could possibly need from 4 powerful burners that produce more than enough heat and nice clean flames, to a sear burner, a built in rotisserie, a built in smoker, a built in tank full/empty indicators, storage space for the rotisserie parts when not in use, and all the more normal mundane stove top burner and warrming tray as well as good workspace. Most importantly, everything works under your control and I am now the master chef of the neighborhood again. Couldn't be happier.
If grilling is important to you, and you can afford the price tag, this is the grill for you.
Weber Grill - Everything I had hoped for !
I have had a Weber gas grill for close to 15 years so when it started looking old and the gas flow decreased I decided it was time for a new grill. There are a lot of Weber Grills to chose from but I choose the Weber Summit E-470 for the following reasons. 1. The Summit series puts me into the heavier professional grade models (Since my first Weber lasted 15 years I could justify the expense). 2. I wanted the Searing Station as I like to sear the meats and then pull it off medium rare which you can not do if the heat isn't high. 3. It is slightly larger than my older grill which allows me to cook foods at the same time at different temperatures which is important.
I am in love with this grill, it is sturdy and as an Engineer I greatly appreciate the Engineering of the features and the quality of the product. I think the lights on the handles are a nice touch. Today I tried the Rotisserie and cooked 2 chickens perfectly. My daughter and I were really surprised at...
Weber summit is a great grill,,,,but,,,,
Finally bit the bullet and bought a Weber Gas grill. Overall totally impressed with this grill and the features, such as smoker/burner, Sear burner and the cool pop up rotisserie motor, heavy stainless steel grates, lighted dials etc. Heats up very quickly, starts easy, good fit and finish all around. Assembly was minimal and intstructions were fine. BUT, was somewhat disappointed that the lid construction is not the solid cast steel as on the smaller "Genesis" model. This model lid appears to have two layers of formed sheet metal with the porcelain coating on the exterior. When the temp heats up and contracts, this lid actually makes poping sounds, not a big deal, but, for the $$ I expected the solid heavy lid construction.
